Bagpipes for All Events

Mary Taylor is a bagpiper residing in Honeoye Falls, New York. She was originally taught in the 1970’s by Bill Merriman of the Prince Charles Pipe Band in California. She has continued to play the pipes through the years at a variety of venues along with being an award-winning competitor at Highland Games (The Eastern United States Pipe Band Association) through New York and New England. Mary is currently being instructed by Nancy TunnicliffeBagpipes in Parade, Highland Games certified adjudicator and master teacher.

Mary would be delighted to play at your event, be it a wedding, family reunion, funeral, St. Patrick’s Day gathering or other festivity.

She plays a large repertoire of tunes, some of which are familiar, i.e. Amazing Grace, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, Scotland the Brave, Wearing O’ the Green and many others suitable for your group’s enjoyment.

“I became fascinated the the sound and uniqueness of bagpipes at a young age and started lessons at the age of sixteen. My parents loved to listen to bagpipe music on our record player. We took trips to hear the pipes in Ottawa in Ontario, Canada to see the Changing of the Guard and of course, we heard the famous Black Watch from England play at the War Memorial in Rochester.
What draws me most of all to the pipes is the plaintive penetrating sound. I feel a strong spiritual, emotional and physical connection which is very compelling and has resulted in many years of practice. Involvement with the Feadan Or Pipe Band in Rochester, piping with a trio and participating in bagpipe competitions have been very fulfilling and gratifying."
